Recently, during intercession with a group from The Gate DC, I was struck by the love of God and how He comes both while in prayer and in the joy of living in His will. While these are two different activities, He always shows Himself as a servant lover and powerful King. He never changes, He is always the Lord of Glory, in whatever we do He seeks to draw our attention.

He is both tender and the supreme King. In the grip of His powerful love, He changes our hearts to be like His, and we move with passion, touching those around us. The love and tender words He speaks in the closet pour out of our hearts into the world as He continues to move. The love and tender mercies He reveals in the closet are vibrant and alive in us as we move forward in life. His actions are not from a linear Western paradigm, moving from one activity to another. They are Hebraic, like a river flowing through every aspect of life. From the closet to the street, our many faceted God is ready to flow through us.

What He reveals in the closet or in times of intercession with my friends can not end there. We must allow the river to keep flowing and keep us moving in His presence. As we continue our fellowship with the mighty King, His river keeps flowing through us into our everyday world, a world destined for change. We must leave behind our agenda at the banks of the river, dive into His glorious presence, where He reveals His plan and strategy, and move forward, changing the world around us.
